Astrological Love Trends For 2011

Astrology can be used as a powerful—and fun—tool for understanding ourselves, others, and the world around us. When I was a young girl, I would anxiously await for the Sunday Paper to arrive – not read the major headlines, but to find out what Aquarians were expected to experience that week or month, even year.

I am not alone with my curiosity of what lies ahead. We want to know if we will find love and enjoy a lifelong romance. We want to know if we are on the “right” path. We delve in because we want to think that there is some sort of plan to it all. Or, to give us a sense of relief. Or, maybe we are interested simply out of sheer fascination.

Well, my curiosity was peeked when one of the world’s most popular astrologers, Michelle Perrin, aka Astrology Detective, approached me with an astrological angle of Love Relationship Trends in 2011. She informed me that there will be a lot of major era-defining planetary shifts going on in 2011 that will affect love and romance. I just had to find out what she had to say.

Perrin has worked as researcher for one of the columns on Jonathan Cainer’s (astrologer for Hello!, The Daily Mirror, people.com and others) before settling in Paris and starting her own practice. Here is what The Astrology Detective had to say about the 2011’s Romantic Trends:

*2011 is a pivotal year astrologically, with many major planetary shifts. We can see the past decade as a bit of an era, and we are now moving into the next phase.

*We are moving away from relationships that are based on fear and need of security, or anxiety about being judged (especially by other women), to truly authentic relationships that are unique and liberating. (Uranus is leaving Pisces where it has been since 2003, entering Aries).

*Men will step up and take a greater role in the partnership dynamic. End of the Mean Girls – Desperate Housewives era. Women will care more about the men in their lives and achieving love, instead of trying to measure up to perfectionist standards. (Uranus is leaving Pisces, entering Aries).

*Love will be based on fun, adventure and spontaneity (Uranus is leaving Pisces, entering Aries).

*There will be New Romanticism, need for a soul mate. Love will become saturated in poetry and be more about achieving a unique spiritual union, as opposed to making the right choice to run a household. (Neptune leaving Aquarius where it has been since 1998; entering it’s ruler Pisces)

*Commitment is in; casual sex is out (Saturn in Libra)

*Decline of internet dating (Neptune is leaving Aquarius where it has been since 1998; entering it’s ruler Pisces)

WHAT’S TO CHANGE:

Uranus is now moving into Aries, the first sign of the zodiac – and therefore starting a new 84-year cycle. Aries is the sign of the adventurer, the risk-taker. Rebellious Uranus will be much more at home in this sign. People will be ready to break away from stagnant love affairs that were good “contracts” and instead want to be with a partner that brings them excitement, adventure and love. We are moving into a more fluid and spontaneous period where people will be willing to take risks. As Aries is the first sign of the zodiac, there will be a youthful naivete and purity to love relationships.

Aries is also a masculine sign, so men will start to make a comeback and take a leading-man role in relationships. They will not be relegated to the silent partner while the women take center stage, as has been the case recently. Men are more likely to set the tone in relationships, and be far more adventurous, strong and protective. Women will be happy to be liberated of wearing the pants, and be happy to be swept off their feet to a realm of action for a change.
